Re-orientation

(Optional) The ending of the story, which may include a moral lesson or closing remarks.

Language Features

Past Tense

Narratives usually use past tense verbs (e.g., lived, went, said).

Characters

Stories include specific characters (people, animals, or objects) with defined roles.

Time & Place

Adverbs of time and place are commonly used (e.g., once upon a time, in a faraway land).

Direct Speech

Dialogues between characters are often included to make the story more engaging.

Descriptive Language

Adjectives and adverbs are used to create vivid images in the reader's mind.

Conjunctions

Words that connect events in time (e.g., then, after that, suddenly).

Example Narrative Text

Orientation

Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived a poor farmer named John. He worked hard every day but could barely earn enough to feed his family.

Complication

One day, a terrible drought hit the village. All the crops died, and the villagers faced starvation. John didn't know what to do to save his family.

Resolution

John remembered an old story about a magical seed that could grow into a tree bearing unlimited fruits. After a long and difficult journey, he found the seed and planted it in his field.

Re-orientation

The magical tree grew overnight and provided enough fruits for the entire village. John became a hero, and the villagers never went hungry again. The moral of the story is that perseverance and wisdom can solve even the biggest problems.
